Stomp Charlotte Theatre reviews
Not bad but not great
I will have to say that this concert was a bit of a disappointment. Probably seen Stomp almost 50 times and I have First - the sound was awful. The bass took over and completely blocked out all the other instruments. Based upon the glowing reviews in the Pgh. Post Gazette some may think I am crazy - but many agree - something was off. The playlist was odd. Didn't seem to flow. And the energy and vibe in Consol was a downer. My section all the people were sitting there like they were watching a movie. It was a very different atmosphere.
Could be the difference. I understand that he doesn't want to play the same ol' same ol' but really there are so many great songs why give us Hungry Heart, Dancing in the Dark and Born in the USA as the rockin' moments. To be fair - three of the last 5 times I have seen him have been in NYC and NJ.
But just seemed like the dynamics of the band were off. Enjoyed the energy that Tom Morello brought. Musically - what I heard before the bass took over - they were great. I mean come on - Bruce forgot to introduce Garry Tallent? Already have my tickets for the show with the Houserockers at Soldiers and Sailors - hope this time there is a little more energy from the crowd and the band.
